Free Code Camp is a volunteer-driven open source community. A vast majority of our contributors have full-time jobs, or are still in school. This makes it hard to estimate how long it will take for us to build new features and design new coding challenges.

Based on this chart that GitHub published a few weeks ago, more than 5,000 contributors have opened issues or pull requests on Free Code Camp’s repository in the past 12 months.

I am eternally grateful to all of our volunteer contributors. I want to be as respectful of their scarce time as possible, and not impose deadlines or other management mechanisms used in traditional organizations.

As chaotic as this approach may appear to traditional managers (and I worked as a traditional manager – a school director – for half a decade), we are all getting a ton of work done:

Work on several of these Coming Soon topics, such as D3, React, and Discreet Mathematics, is well under way.

We are also making steady progress on a massive expansion to our core curriculum.

We’ll ship these new features and coding challenges the moment they’re ready. We’ll also continue to listen to feedback from our vast community of campers and plan to build out additional improvements.

In the meantime, in addition to the hundreds of coding challenges on FreeCodeCamp.com, we have hundreds of articles on web development on our community blog, and dozens of videos on computer science concepts on our YouTube channel.

Happy coding!
