Recently, news emerged that King Charles III had evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from their Frogmore Cottage home. But a new claim revealed that the monarch didn’t do it alone but allegedly worked in partnership with his eldest son and the Duke of Sussex’s eldest brother Prince William in a move that some saw as revenge.
Prince William is also said to have something to do with Prince Harry and Meghan’s Frogmore eviction. That said, some questioned the move of Kate Middleton’s husband to support King Charles in this decision.
Royal commentator Daniela Elser said the Prince of Wales’ move opened the questions. Some asked if the decision were driven by a hard-nosed focus on ensuring the royal family would continuously operate as leanly as possible and how much of it was a good old-fashioned revenge, per Express.
In an op-ed for News.com.au, the commentator believed the future king was one of the royal family members who took the hardest hit of the Sussexes’ allegations and criticisms from their Netflix docuseries Spare and his sibling’s memoir, Spare.
Prince Harry and Meghan’s rep confirmed that Buckingham Palace requested them to leave Frogmore a day after the book’s release. Though there were reports that the property was offered to Prince Andrew as part of His Majesty’s planned slimdown monarchy, there were claims that the Duke of York’s youngest daughter, Prince Eugenie, had already moved into the cottage.
Despite that, a source told People that the controversial royal couple had no plans to oppose King Charles’ decision to evict them from their U.K. home. The two are said to be happy to raise their kids, who now have their royal titles as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in California after moving to the U.S. in 2020 following their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family.
However, people close to them find it unfortunate, considering the place is a haven for them and their children whenever they’re in the U.K. for a visit.
Prince Andrew has also stepped back from his public duties after getting involved in a huge controversy due to his ties with the criminal sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He currently lives at a much larger Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.
Amid the reports that Prince Harry and Meghan were asked to vacate their royal property in January, People claimed Prince Harry and Meghan already knew about the move even before the release of Spare.
